Hi guys<br />anyone know if it is possible to get a shaft conversion kit (short to long) for a 89 Tohatsu outboard. Also any opinions of these motors would be appreciated as i am considering buying one.<br />thanks<br />dan
They never offered a kit to do that. As an 89 40 would only be worth $300 to $400 and the new parts would be around $700, I would look for a longshaft engine.
If this motor is fully stock I know of a use for it. We use them for racing tunnel boats and are always looking for this engine as it seems to be hard to find the short shaft model available in the states. If you want to sell it email me.<br />mrbarrett@verizon.net
