Honda BF 50 1997 LOWER UNIT OFF

HAVE LOWER UNIT OFF.. DID NOT FIND AN O RING ON THE WATER TUBE NOR A SEAL ON THE DRIVE SHAFT AT THE IMPELLER HOUSING..?<br /><br />MY MANUAL SAYS THE BOTTOM INTAKE [THE THIRD ONE ] MUST BE SUBMERGED.. CAN I DUCK TAPE OVER BOTTOM ONE AND RUN WITH THE MICKEY EARS ON THE SIDE INTAKES??<br /><br />WHATS THE VERY BEST LUBE TO PUT IN IMPELLER HOUSING?<br />TX FOR HELP ITS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED KEN

The water tube seal is a grommet down in the housing.Not my favorite arrangement as you can miss that invisible target on reassembly.There is an oring type seal on the bottom of the pump housing.When running on the flushers you certainly need to tape off the water pickup under the cavitation plate.Duct tape works fine ,and I find it sad that many dealers out do'nt pass this info on to their customers,or they just do'nt know.
