Re: honda tilt and trim

I was told by my Honda dealer that it is not a serviced part. I inquired about changing the oil and they said not to.

With the engine tilted all the way up,the tilt locks in place, and you looking at the back of the boat ,that resivior cap will be the small somewhat bulbous cap looking thing towards the right and top of that whole tilt assembly. With several rags and a drip pan ,remove that cap SLOWLY, then fill with the correct fluid, good to go.Why are you in there in the first place?

The motor will not tilt up or down but you can hear the tilt motor running so I thought it might need fluid.

There is a manual release screw on the port side of the motor, turn it to release the tilt and have a friend or two lift the motor up. Make sure you set the locks, and you will be able to check the level of the fluid.
