I have a tohatsu that is without a lower unit. Can someone tell me if its a 15 or 20 inch by knowing the lenght from the bottom exhaust housing to the trim on the motor, ive tried it with others its just strange on this one. Or how about someone that knows their stuff tell me how to measure it?

Measure from the inside of the transom bracket to the bottom of the midsection. If it is about 12-13 inches, then it is a short shaft, if 16 or more, then it is a long shaft.

Just make sure you are measuring from the inside of the transom bracket, that is where the motor sits on the boat.

Also if this dont work, try posting your serial and model number, and I will try to run it and tell you that way.

Thanks, what i meant on the trim on the motor was the famous plastic piece that hides the power head bolts, not the tilt and trim (which this one doesnt have)Great advice on this forum Thank you much you have solved me problem.
