I'm in the process of getting a quote for a lund 18 fisherman boat powered with a 130 honda, but question the power of 115 yahama. I'm aware of the weight issue, but power is a concern. Anyone with experience and advice would be appreciated.

Re: Honda 130 vs Yam 115 power and fuel economy

I contemplated the same senario you are on my last boat. I went with the Yamaha F115 and never looked back.

Less expensive, smaller, and almost 100 lbs lighter. The F115 is probably one of the finest outboards you will ever own...a real sweetheart. Very powerful, fuel efficient, and quiet. Proven.

I don't think you're going to notice much performance difference between the BF130 and the F115. 115 hp should be plenty for the 18 Lund. If power is a concern, I'd go with the Suzuki DF140 over the BF130. Again, much less expensive, much less weight, more hp, and good track record.

You really can't go wrong with any brand, and dealer support is a consideration as well.
