Does anybody know what a brand new cyl head gasket for a Honda looks like? Is it a sandwich of metal only, or does it also have a rubber layer? Could still use advice for cleaning mating surfaces for head installation; solvents and/or methods appreciated.

Re: Honda Gasket

I have no idea what headgasket for this one looks like, but would doubt seriously if there is any rubber involved for a head gasket. Use a factory head gasket for that model and you can't possibly go wrong.
As far as cleaning the mating surfaces, get yourself a piece of good quality 1/4" plate glass and some fine wet/dry emery paper. put the emery paper on the glass on a solid flat surface, and gently work the head in a sort of circular or figure 8 fashion until it appears clean. That has worked for me at least.

Good Luck,

John
