I was out in my boat today and this happened. My Honda 8hp motor started on it's own. Here is what happened, we were trolling for an hour and shut the engine down by pulling the kill lanyard. The motor stopped. We hooked the lanyard back up in case we wanted to troll later on and inadvertently left the motor in forward gear. We started to motor around, with the Honda still in the water, and we being powered by our Evinrude. The Honda then started up on it's own and I can only think that the prop turning with the motor in gear started it up. Has anybody ever heard of this or experienced it?

No that's not possible typically when they start on there own it's something with the switch box it's rope pull only right otherwise it could be in the ignition switch

If there were enough "push" on the Honda's prop to cause it to turn over/start, unless it were in the locked position (like in reverse) it would have kicked/tilted the lower unit up out of the water
