Hello All
What year is my Honda 90hp? I know this question has been beat to death but I can't find an answer searching through the forums. I believe its 1997 - 2000 but I can't say for sure. I know it was rebuilt with a new power head in 2010 and there is no serial number stamped on the engine block to the right of the oil filter. I do have the product identification number BBBL1004012. Thanks for your help

Go here and type in BF90A where it says OEM part search

Establish your year and model number (1997 BF90AT) using serial number ranges (1004012)

You can confirm it's a 97-99 by the fact it's got a Mercury lower unit on it. If you look at the water intake, it's cast into the lower unit. If it were Honda lower (newer model 75-90's) that intake area would be plastic.

Thank you for the info ahicks. Well I have another question. After doing some research I found that the water pump housing on my lower unit is square Part # 19221-ZW1-B01and not round like the 97Part # 19221-ZW-003. I tried to upload a photo but couldn't. I think I may have a Frankenstein motor.

Maybe you know already, but the "square" pump housing is from a later model Honda lower unit, so you could be right. I'm pretty sure the engine blocks are/were all the same, so that rebuild may have been from an older engine.

One way or the other, as long as it runs good, it's a great engine. You'll just have to be careful when ordering parts!

Well after installing the correct Water Impeller the BF90 runs great. The only issue I see is the cooling system indicator (pee stream) start out strong and then after about ten seconds it slow down to a slow trickle, the water never stops coming out of the indicator. I have read that when the thermostat opens the water stream slow down but never stops. Is this common?
