Trying figure out why it will fire but not run

My mechanic check everything and nothing he can find is bad. Thinks it maybe the power pack. It ran great two weeks ago then this week took it to the lake and all it would do is fire up then spit and sputter.

Firing/running at idle at neutral is way different that when OB runs at load when geared. If throttling more than at idle/neutral, say half throttle does OB accelerates even, misses ? Is fuel circuit, tank, lines, filters inmacculate clean, fuel pump in good shape ?

It will not stay running to throttle it up everything else seems in good shape.

You need to diagnose, not guess. It could be something as simple as choke. The CD for that motor is available, but not many other parts are. See whether plugs are wet or dry... the usual checks.

Everything has been checked. Just don't know how to check the power pack

You check the C D module by using the values found in the service manual. It's more likely that you have a fuel issue than a ignition system problem.

Did they do a Proper carb cleaning?

Yes the carbs are clean

Exactly what method did they use to clean the carbs? Are the plugs wet or dry? Wet = either flooded or no spark; dry = no gas.
