1995 Honda BF40A outboard parts

1995 Honda BF40A, serial number BAYE-1002204. My problem is that everywhere I go for parts, online or actual shops,wants the engine serial number but it doen't show up in any of their databases. I assume that happens because the engine is so old. So how am I supposed to order parts? Any suggestions or advice? I find it hard to believe that the serial number is now defunct.

If you go on line to Honda you can look up part numbers from your model number but you will need another three or four letters on the end of your model. If you can't find these they can be put together from the equipment on your unit.
