Recently it seems every few times I turn the motor over I will get a click and no crank. The battery meter goes from good to low. After a few turns if the key the starter engages and motor turns over. I sense it is a bad battery. What are the chances it is a bad starter or solenoid?

Try troubleshooting with a fresh 70 MA battery firstly, if current one is old probably is the culprit.

And check/clean all connections from battery to solenoid to grounds.

Sorry for the ignorance but what is a 70MA battery? I'd just got to sears and buy any deep cycle marine battery so appreciate the insight.

Sorry, wrong code letters , should be AH. A 12V battery that delivers 70 amp/hour, don't know if marine grade is same as deep cycle though.
