hi, how do I change the leg oil and impeller on a 91 90 hp dual exhaust us marine force outboard? I read some posts on it but they weren't for this particular year.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

impeller change: http://forums.iboats.com/forum/engin...hange?t=231685

the only difference is you 'probably' have the mercury impeller setup but all should apply. Just a different part number.

as for the gear oil change - just remove the screw under the bottom of the gear case (NOT THE ONE ON THE SIDE OF THE BULLET) then remove the fill and vent screws at the top of the lower unit... let it drain for 30 minutes - put in bottom screw and fill it from the fill screw until it comes out the vent screw - then replace all the screws.

Thanks
Is there any way to rev the engine without putting it in gear?

On some boats you pull the throttle base toward you and then push the throttle forward.

The 91 is supposed to come with a wp that has a stainless impeller housing.
They managed to get some of the older style units that didn't have the cup.
They take a different impeller.
Also if your unit is a used one someone might have swapped the lowers.

Drain the oil with the bottom screw. Sometimes you'll find an allen head screw.
Use sealing tape on the allen head screw and change the seal/ gasket on the other style.
Mercury/ Mercruiser drain seals will fit.Yam is too small.
If you have the 2 screws on top? Make sure you fill from both till it stops puke'n air.

Pull out the handle like skidad suggested or use the linkage by the carbs.
