I have '90 Bayliner with a '90 Force 50hp and looking to upgrade the motor to '91 Force 70hp that has power Tilt and Trim. The problem is that the motor doesn't come with the controls. Can I use the controls from the 50hp and add a switch somewhere for the power tilt and trim?

As long as the 70 does not have Mercury control system, yes, it will swap. Get a single pole MOM switch at the electronics store and run a 3 wire 16 or 18 gauge cable from the dash to the engine.

Thanks for the reply. How would I know if it had a Merc control system?

There will be a cast in boss (or two) on the lower cowl with two holes in it. These holes accept the plastic slugs on the end of the Mercury cables. If your 70 has a metal clip that pushes down over a groove in the control cable and is secured by a small screw, that is the US Marine control system. US Marine will also have two ball ends that the quick-connect fittings slip over. Mercury has holes in the cable ends that slip over a pin.
