I have a 1995 40 HP Force Outboard 2 stroke. My lower unit is completely shot and I have other problems with the rest of the motor. I found a guy who has a "1994" 40HP Force. I went on boats.net and did a very detailed cross reference between parts. It appears most of the powerhead and electrical components will match but the lower unit part #'s are mostly all different.
Can anyone tell me if I can put the 94 lower unit on my 95? Just a swap. Screw in and go.
Also, can anyone tell me if my steering hookups will work if I decide to just completely swap motors? The mounting brackets have different part #'s as well but I would think the steering cable hook up would be pretty universal. He has the exact same boat as me (Bayliner Capri 1401 LS).
I would assume my control cables would hook up the same??? It's a Quicksilver 3000 model.
