I have a 22 ft pontoon with a 1990 I believe force 90 hp. It has good compression but recently some problem, needs 2 new coils running on one cylinder, needs new trim motor and skag and prop are shot. I found a 86 force 85 hp for 300 bucks which the guys says runs and starts up great. I'm wondering if I purchased this could I use the parts to make one good motor and also if this one is good to go if the controls are the same and I could do a easy swap over. Thanks for any advice

you could just put the 1986 on - the controls will be the same. keep the 1990 for parts. The electronics will probably be different though (connectors) But most everything will be usable for parts.

Should just bolt right up.
Make sure it's the same length. 20 or 25in?
The 86 was the year they went back to the buss bar.
The early 86 was plug and play connectors.
The later models were the screw down type.
