1989 force 50 hp inspection

whats up guys , im going to look at an 1989 force 50 hp outboard early next week to buy for my son , what should i look for , im going to hear it run , what should the compression readings be at , ill check the lower unit oil also , anything i am missing ?, thanks guys

The comp should be even on both cylinders.
The #'s on the gauge can be different using another gauge.

My gauge could read 145# yours might get 155 or 120.
The important thing is they need to be the same.
Check the oil, if it's new as when it was changed?
Look at the prop, if it's chewed up then the guys been running in shallow water and probably sucked up a bunch of sand.
Check for spark if possible.

Also check the base gasket as these motors are bad about loosing up and gasket failing.
