Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum and new to boats actually, this is My first boat so please bear with me if I ask a stupid question. Ok, Right now i have a 15 foot open bow ski boat, it has a 1979 85 hp chrysler outboard power trim. Unfortunately it decided it didn't like rod bearings anymore this past weekend. I have found a 55 hp chrysler for a good deal but it doesn't have power trim. Can i swap the power trim from My 85hp, and use it on the 55hp? Im pretty handy and mechanically inclined I've just never done this before. Any input is appreciated, Thanks in advance!

NO! It is too big to fit. A smaller power trim unit WAS made for the 2 cylinder engines BUT---it requires changing the swivel yoke too. Probably a thankless job. Also, although it is way lighter at about 160 pounds vs. 275, the 55 is way less powerful. You very likely will not be satisfied with it after the 85. You are better off trying to find another 3 cylinder Chrysler or Force.
