15 hp Force what model is it ?

Good day, Need to order carburator kit for my OB. there are 2 different kits depending on Model no. The ID plate is gone, Serial number is 286222. Mercury dealer tell me it's a 1997 ??? Is there a way to find the Model number ?? It's a short shaft 15 hp FORCE/by Mercury (I know it's ex Chrysler)

That is correct it is a 1997. But even then, there are still at least two different types of carbs used for those year models. The best way to get the correct carb info is the numbers or part number stamped on the old carb. If you can provide this number you will be good to go on finding the correct carb kit.
