Starting Problems 1977 Chrysler 75 HP Outboard

[Making Hay]

This engine is remarkably clean and runs perfect. However on occasion I will turn the key and get a faint "clunk" but nothing else. I can then take off the hood and pull with a rope and then when I try the key again, it starts. Again, clean, maintained, and runs perfect. Just this strange issue. Any ideas? Thanks

Sounds like the starter motor may need a service.
