1996 Force 120 HP OB

Looking at a 1995 Starcraft bowrider, very clean condition. It has a 1996 Force 120HP outboard. Is that a 4 cylinder motor? Are all the '96 120HP Force outboards still requiring mixing oil with gas? What else should I know? Thanks for the advice/help.

Yes, 4 cylinder.
Should also have switchbox built into the coils, this is the cdM ignition, new on the 1996 model.
Serial number should be OE138600 or higher.


Yes, all Force motors require that you mix oil in the gas.


It is a decent motor, but, many dealers will balk at servicing it. Probably because they don't know how to fix it if they can't plug in a computer.

Do a compression/spark test before buying.
