I also saw a manual on ebay that had no dates with same number, so I was not sure if that number (90 823265) covered all of the older model 40 Force. Thanks for your quick response. I know I have an older model, but not sure on the year. I have a broken ankle so it is too hard to go and check serial number. Was hoping that the manual would fit all of the older manuals.

Did a quick scan of the 40HP motors. Looks to me like the oldest Force 40HP was a 1992. The did make a 45HP in the early 1980's. When you get a chance, if you can post the model/serial number and also some pictures of both sides and front and back of the motor with the cowl off we should be able to pin it down to within a few years.

Thanks very much. The ankle is on the mend should be about 2 weeks before I can walk on it and the boat is in my barn, so a little hard to get to.

Does anyone know if a tach and temp gauge can be hooked up to a 1995 40hp force outboard? When these get attached to? Also looking for online manuals?

Yes both can be hooked to your motor.
