Re: 1998 Force by Mercury 120hp

Thank you! I owned the 1984, 85hp for 6 years and it ran great. I did all my own maintenance that you mentioned as well as pampering it, didn't pull tubes, skiers etc...
I sold it before last season for almost what I paid for it 6 years earlier as the boat and tilt/trim was simply showing old age. The motor still ran great!
All in all I'm very comfortable with the easy design but don't know much about the newer models except that Mercury took it over in the early 90's.
One last thing: the motor I owned was very cheap to maintain in relation to other outboards as far as basic parts and oils.

Yes buy it.
After a compression test.
The comp results should be a bit lower on the #1 and #4 piston.

What do you need ?

Definitely easy to work on, newer had boat and i took lower unit apart and resurfaced dog clutch and reverse gear with drimmel tool and change cam shifter and impelar with no problem. Just read before you start digin. Before i had kawasaki zxi 1100 and it was a ***** to work on.

Zasho, welcome.
You should start your own thread.
Parts are all over the place.
This site sells stuff.
