Hello (after a long time)
I put a new starter on my 50 and took it out yesterday, 1st time in 2 years. Of course, it started right up, tell tale working, all was well. Drove the boat 4 miles up the lake and stopped to get my fishing gear set up and my kicker started. Wind was blowing up toward the rocky shoreline and the kicker wouldn't start so I tried to start the 50 and nothing...

I could activate the choke with the ignition switch, but wouldn't crank at all. I jumped across the solenoid/relay and it cranks just fine. So, since the ignition switch is new, I deduced (??) that the solenoid is bad.

My capri is 1985 but can't find the motor number for that year... It showed up on one site as an 87... confusing... The solenoid is no longer made, but I imagine there is a replacement of some kind available.

Any help? The two numbers from the ID plate are 507X7B and 1056.

Thanks in advance...

iBoats shows Sierra International 18-5803 Marine Solenoid as replacement for this motor... I found it at Amazon for $29.99 free shipping.
