Have a 1991 Bayliner Capri 120 hp force motor I have been working on. Found a melted wire I need to replace but not sure where it goes or what it is. Im thinking it is a temp sensor I am attaching pictures. the wire sorta looks tan or faded light yellow. The first picture is of the melted wire. it attaches to the back left of the motor. The second picture is of the area where I think the wire should hook up but not positive. the third is of crazy motor I am dealing with looks like an I/O but hear is is considered an outboard. ANY IDEAS OR HELP WOULD BE GRATEFUL!

Attaching a picture with a circle around the area of where I think the wire may go.

That is the temperature sensor for your overheat warning buzzer. It should go to the terminal marked "Overheat", second picture in your first posting. Probably should check and see if it's good. Check resistance between the wire and the block, or remove it and check resistance between the wire and the metal case of the sensor. It should read "open" at room temperature. Heat it up to about 180?, and it should read zero OHMs or a dead short.

GREAT!! THANKS SO MUCH. I will be replacing the wire then do the testing. NOW I have a red that looks like a starter wire. comes off the circut breaker with main red/purple wire that goes up to the fuses at helm. Cant see where this wire may go on the starter. it gets 12v and looks as if it broke off at some point. thanks for all of your help!!!

The Red wire on the Force L-Drive set up that goes to the main circuit breaker that feeds the fuse panel at the helm goes to the starter solenoid. Specifically, the large terminal that the battery cable is attached to.

That shouldn't get hooked to the starter.
The only thing hooked on the starter is the #4 lead from the solenoid.
It looks like a lead off the circut breaker???
