We have a 1996 Rinker Rocket Jetboat with a Force/Mercury 120hp. It was purchased non-running.

My husband has since replaced the battery, battery cables, starter, starter solenoid, stator, ignition, wiring harness (completely), fuel lines, and spark plugs. He has cleaned the coil packs, and carbs (and added new gaskets).

He is now trying to start the boat, and the bendix on the starter goes up and spins the flywheel but it doesn't spin fluidly, and isn't going fast enough to get a spark. The bendix is now staying up. It started this after a couple of times of just no spark, and the bendix going back down to the proper positioning. after not getting spark the first two times, he checked the fuel lines and it doesn't appear to be getting any fuel, but he is getting oil...

Any suggestions???

As for the bendix not resetting down use a thin oil or grease to lube the shaft where it slides. Also make sure the spring is still in place with the stop nut. Apply also some grease on the flywheel teeth to help in engaging and disengaging.

Thanks, he is going to try that. He also found that a small box that sends the electricity to the coils is not working, so we have to order that.

YEP! That engine has a mechanical oil pump driven by the crankshaft. As long as the flywheel is turning, it will pump oil (provided the tank has oil). REMEMBER: Even though this has an oil pump, it is not an automobile type engine. It still is a 2 stroke with oil injection into the fuel. You must constantly replenish the oil supply or burn up the engine.

You are probably talking about the CD module. For troubleshooting steps you can check CDI dot com to validate you diagnosis.
