Need help.
I have acquired a pontoon boat with I believe a 95 40 hp 2 stroke force outboard.
Serial number reads oe094757.
Need help identifying motor. When I enter it in search it is invalid.
Also need to rebuild carb. What is the best manual, the (1995-Force-Outboards-90-120-HP-Service-Repair-Shop-Manual-FACTORY-OEM). Or a (Seloc-1100-Force-Outboard-1984-99-3-150hp-Motor-Engine-Repair-Manual)
Thanks guys in advance.

Parts Catalog | Mercury Marine

The best manuals are the original factory one's, followed by the one's published by Clymer then bringing up the rear are the one's published by Seloc.

Re: Serial number ID force 40hp

These carbs are easy to work on.
The parts you buy, MAYBE??? they'll work??
Maybe not. Try to clean and see how corroded and gunked up they are?
If the float bowl's clean. Then it's a good bet the rest is gonna be ok too.
Pics of the carb(dis-assembled) and the pieces.
Re-using the old parts is what happens most of the time.
I use Dawn dish detergent and fresh water. Then blow dry.
Some cleaners and most soaks have an ingredient that swells the rubber and can melt plastic.
WD is a good lube, but can leave a sticky residue. Spray silicone can too.
If the bowl is really corroded then you will need a cleaner/soak.
The swelling goes down after time.
