I have a 1989 Bayliner Cobra Fish n Ski with a Force 125 outboard motor. I was running the boat and it was on plane at 50mph and then suddenly dropped to half speed. Since then, I have not been able to get the boat to plane. Motor runs, I changed the plugs and rebuilt the carbs, replaced all batteries and it still won't plane.
I've tried to diagnose the problem and found it has no spark in 3 & 4cylinder. I am assuming that I have a CDI problem and am wondering if there is a difference in the blue CDI and the black CDI. Does anyone have any ideas?
Need to get this boat going! Bass season is here!

Try swapping the packs around.
Make sure you identify each wire before you swap.
Try changing the conectors on ALL the wire ends.
Then go to: outboard ignition . com or CDI electronics
Both have test procedures for the ignition system.
There is no difference in the black and blue.
The manufacturer says not to mix them but I've never had a problem.
