I'm trying to help my son hook up his 45hp Chrysler late seventies motor. I can't seem to figure out how to adjust the cables correctly. Any pictures you may have of the cables connected at the motor would be appreciated. When I hooked the cables up, I can't get the throttle to advance with the gear selector button pulled out for neutral warm up. The linkage hangs up on the screw/arm on the throttle linkage. I've never had much experience with outboards and controls. Thanks in advance.

Attached are pics of my 1970 35 HP Chrysler. If they are similar as on some 35HP ? 55HP Chryslers and you need more pic angles, let me know. With my setup, there is not much acceleration in neutral vs once you go to forward or reverse.

The throttleadvance at warmup should stop at the towershaft. It only give you about 1500-2000rpm. The throttlelever has a hook that catch up at the towershaft. Post some pics at your set up.

Thanks for your reply. I was thinking you should have full range of travel on the throttle with the shift cable disengaged.
