A month ago motor was runing well and I wanted to turn it of by ignition switch. I turn key left to turn it of but nothing happened, motor still runs. I found a fast solution and turned of motor by choke. That way I did it for 15 days.

Then few days ago ignition switch failed totaly, did not want to start contact or start. Battery is good and I checked all conenctions on wires. Boat is on salt water so I suspect on corrosion in ignition switch.

Is it ignition switch or it could be something more serious? Thanks

P.S. trim works, radio works...

Re: ignition switch force 125 89.

1. Have you done any testing on the switch with a volt/ohmmeter?

2. Have you tried to start the motor by-passing the switch or is it safe to do so on your sys??

3. On my magneto sys I can add 12V to my motor?s marked circuit board and jump the starter to crank the motor and it cranks and run. Jumping the starter should indicate good or bad starter.

4.Either could indicate a bad switch IMO.

5.I have used TV tuner spray to get a bad switch working when I saw indications of contact issues.

Good Luck!
