50 force.. what is the year

I have a 50 force with serial number 1976 and model number 507X8C.. I was wondering what the year is. I can't find any corresponding numbers to help me get the year. I was told it was a 1997 but I am sure I was mislead.. Can any one help me please.

That model number looks like it's probably a 1988 year motor.
