1999 force lower unit shifting????? 90hp help please

i got another lower unit for my 90 hp force motor. i had a hard time lining up the shift linkage last night thought i had it but today on the muff fired it up went into foward but wont go in reverse. cable is fine has full travel under the power head. when i put it back together i had the shifter on the controls in neutral and the lower unit in neutral so i thought ?? can any one give me a step by step on how to do this am i missing something here????? is there a trick please help

Drop the lower.Install the prop,no nut,you need this to turn the drive shaft.
Put the shifter in F (Did you do anything to the shifter linkage?It's the right drive??)
On the drive, turn the shift shaft to the left.Pulling up on the prop all the while.This will make sure the drive is in forward.
Install the drive.NEVER turn the prop the other way.
Once it's up against the splines,pull the prop up again.This will spin the driveshaft allowing the splines to align.
This should be in gear and all you have to do is send the check!!!

jerry this lower is the exact same one that came off its completely assembled prop on an all do i need to remove any thing except the lower unit ur a great help an hope you can walk me through this i have no clue if the lower unit was in gear when i got it i tried all night till 12 with no avail i thought i had it it guess something isnt right

when you say to the left is that lookin at the lower from the back prop side or the front shift linkage side
also do i turn to left until it wont stop

Your standing at the rear of the unit.
Prop blade to your right.Pulling up will make the driveshaft turn if it's in F
If it's not in gear it will either just turn or click.
Turn the shift shaft to the left from the rear.See pic#1 #2 is the prop shaft.
