force 125 1988 starter problem

have a problem the motor will not start. the starter spins up but the wheel will not move up to engage the flywheel an suggestions.

Can you move the starter pinion gear up manually? You should be able to spin it and move up the shaft as it moves. through the helical thread on the drive shaft. Sometimes the spring which pushed is back gets caught thus the gear gets stuck and will not slide up. A light grease will prevent this from happening.

Battery cables hooked right?
Load test the battery.

And you posted the starter was spinning except the pinion would not move up?

just installed dual batteries do i run the ground wires to both or just one battery. does the engine and fuel pump ground or to the starting battery only?
also running one voltage guage should I connect that to the starting battery
