Ign left on until battery was dead (weeks)after a no start, ,
Now weak blue spark barely makes a 1/4" jump to ground,SAME PROBLEM AS B4 no start.
Here is what I have now -
Good Compression,
Coils OK on spec., If I am reading my NON digital Volt /Ohm meter right.
New battery,
New premium gas,no leaks
New NGK plugs,
fuel feed ok.
UH OH :(

So what is your voltage output reading from the stator at cranking speed? This is the voltage taken from the blue/yellow wire (sometimes brown/yellow and bown/blue wires).

I am home now,(6-12) I'll check that tomorrow when I am back out at the lake and post it.

sorry it took so long to get back here-life
. Blue and yellow wires. Meter shows 11 volt's cranking, nothing at rest w key off or on. Apparently it does w matter which test leads goes where. Same reading either way.

Re: 1994 Force 40 HP weak spark no start

11 Volts is way too low for stator voltage reading unless you are reading DC voltage. Make sure you are reading AC voltages but if you already did, then re-verify stator resistance usually OEM stator reads 700-900 ohms while some replacement type reads 300-500 ohms. If the resistance is nowhere near these figures replace stator. Typical cranking voltage AC is 180~200VAC.

I'll check the ohm figure and whether I used the ac or dc scale. on friday,Thanks
