Where can I get a manual and fuel system parts for a 1972 Chrysler 55 ?
The motor was purring like a kitten after 12 years of sitting, I ran it for about a hour and then it died, it almost started again after about 10 min. It sounded like it ran out of gas but I had plenty of fuel. Can anyone shed some lite on my problem ?

Do A Quick Check For Fire, Compression And Fuel (the 3 elements needed to run):

1. Pull your plugs and ground one at a time and crank to see if they are giving you a good blue spark.

2. Check compression in ea cyl with a gauge (100 + w/o 10 psi diff) or your finger c/n hole pressure inside cyl.

3. Prime your carb with some of you 2-cycle mix and see if it will start on the prime.

4. If no spark you?ll probably need to pull your flywheel and ck your points if all outside electrical looks ok.

5. If no or bad compression which I doubt, you?ll need to talk to the Pros (I h/n pulled a head or etc due to no comp).

6. If lack of fuel is the issue, you?ll start at the tank tracing for blockage, leakage, deterioration, bad pump diap, etc.

Good Luck And The Pros Will Jump In Here Soon! jow

Fuel pump diaphragm probably needs replacing as well as a good carb cleaning.

Re: 1972 Chrysler 55 fuel problems

Thanks for your help. I got it to start right up, no messing around but now I have another problem. The moter runs great for about 3min then shuts off, it will crank right back up and run for another 3 or 4 mins. I'm thinking fuel again but I went through the fuel tank , there was a major air leak in the top of the hose, then new vacuum lines and cleaned the carb. real good.
The next problem is the throttle linkage, I disconnecting the forward linkage to take off the fuel pump, now the forward linkage will not accelerate the moter. what have I done wrong? Pleas help , I don't yet have a manual, its in the mail.

Rebelpete,

1. Look for old marks from past adjustment.
2. Study the tower and locks on it.
3. Study the F,N,R restrictions.
4. Will any of these attachments help?

Good Luck! jow
