Correct colour for 1981 Chrysler 35 hp

Have just purchased a 1981 35 hp Outboard and its black.....Metal band on hood with Chrysler 35hp ..not the red stripes....whats the right colour white or black for this year ?

OK lets put it this way .....has anyone ever seen other than white Chryslers from the factory ?

No not Chrysler but Force. I belive in 1986 or 1987 Force became black with the old Chrysler style hood an so on.

If it's a Chrysler, it should be white.

thats what I thought ..when I pick it up will scrape the black paint and see whats going on ,,,,thanks

Maybe these pics will help. The first is my motor before I bought it, I can verify it is a 1978. According to research I have done... The second and third pics are Chrysler motors that were made between 1981 and 1984 but I do not know the exact years on them. Perhaps someone else can identify them.
