i have 74-76 chrysler 60 hp 609 ha outboard it starts and runs great with plenty of power for about a half mile then misses and slows. it will run much longer at half throttle. first thought was fuel pump but i can pump the bulb with no change. acts to me like loosing fire to one cyl after warm up. help thanks ken

It could very well be the CD unit or the coils heating up and shorting. If the engine is one with Magna-Power II ignition, I would be very suspicious of the CD unit under the flywheel.

If you are 100% it?s a ign.problem then you have to troubleshot the ign. system. Look at outboardignition.com. They have a guide to troubleshot Chrysler/Force ign. The Mag II ign. can drive you up the wal,l but if you are mec.skilled and have some logic thinking you fix it. If the CD module is bad, then you have a problem. The module is diconntinued at CDI, it was a R&R unit.
