I bought this boat a year ago and never noticed oil leaking at propeller area until now. Is this normal and what type of oil is it. How do I fix this and what caused it. I cant even find where to check the oil level. Please educate me with about this engine.

First fill out the profile,Then add a pic of the problem. The oil that's dripping might be unburned gas/oil.There are a couple of screws on the side/top and bottom of the lower unit. Some units have a fill and vent on the top of the lower.Tilt the motor up and loosen the bottom screw.Loosen it enough to drain a few drops of oil.
If there is any water or milky oil in there ,you have trouble.Do this and post your findings.Jerry

There is no water in the gear oil.

That's probably unburned gas/oil.It usually works it way down when you tilt the motor up.
Get a service manual (factory is best)and start reading.Don't forget there are no dumb questions.Jerry

Thanks Captain Jerry, I think you are right. I changed the gear oil and it does not match with the oil leak. And the leak was limited.
Thanks again

If you put it on your finger your lower unit lube will smell like grease. 2 cycle oil has its own distinct smell.
