my engine broke down this summer, problem was cdi unit which replaced, used the boat 3 more times and same symptoms have occurred again, could this be caused by the stator taking the cdi unit out or should i look at something else.. help please :mad:

It would probably help to define "broke down". Did it overheat? Make a
loud rattling noise and hiss? What happened and how did it happen?
Oh, and a heads up, you're gonna get the following advice, so it would help
these guys a bunch if you went ahead and figured this out;

1)Do a compression test 1st
2)Then do a spark test
3)Then check fuel system (complete)

And, then, post your results. Lots of good people on here with tons of
answers they just need to know the question. It'll be found and you'll be
better equipped for anything down the road, as well. Good luck.

Thanks for reply

when the boat stopped there was no overheating or mis firing, it was the same the second time round as the first.......going along about 3/4 throttle shut throttle down to neutral position and engine just stopped, no rattling no mis firing and no over heating, it was as if someone had just turned ignition off.........after first time put new cdi unit on and boat ran fine for three outings and then did exactly as first time..
checked for spark and no spark...
thank you again and look forward to hearing from you soon...:cool:

check where your coils bolt on I had the same problem with my 200hp johnson and one of the coils was not grounding right and it was back feeding
