OK guys, I've mentioned my boat and motor in many posts here and I finally am able to post some pictures. I just mounted my motor back on the transom this afternoon and the boat is starting to look pretty sharp.(IMHO) I still have to do final adjustments and link/sync the timing/carbs etc. once the control box and cables have been re-monted.
I'll post some other shots on the "Restoration" board but I thought I'd share my first boat/outboard and first effort at a rehab. Comments welcome, good or bad...I'm new to boating and this board has been a literal education! Now if I could just learn to take pictures... :D

Very nicely done! And it's a red head too! Now, get yoursef a couple of Chrysler logos, pentastars, and plastic names from the auto junkyard to dress up the engine.

I have been toying with the idea of anodizing the head and associated parts red.

Wow! Thanks Frank I take that as high praise coming from you! I like your's too and the anodizing idea...hmmm. I'm still a little worried about a little too much "red" in my mild customization. (Can you tell that I'm a Nebraska fan??)

I'm thinking about having some white vinyl letters cut that read "3 BBL 70 hp" and a Chrysler pentagram for the airbox. Don't want to get too carried away with the "red" scheme. But, I'm loving my red prop and exhaust snout. We'll see how well they all hold up in the brackish waters here.

I got a 1962 boat and a 1970 motor..

I've already had compliments on the motor and boat while at the dock.. I want to pain the cowl to match my boat. Mine is just the normal Chrysler and shows normal age.. But people love the fact that I have such an old motor, bump the key and it fires up.

That is a sharp looking boat! You gotta find that memory card and post those pix!!! I LOVE old boats/cars. I was born in '62 so I'm pretty partial to anything of that generation, but I'm actually thinking about finding an old 1962 something (Thunderbird comes to mind!) when I decide to get a bigger boat.

If you're interested, scroll thru my photo album once you click on one of the photos and you will find various pix of my boat in various stages of undress and hoisted on a cherry picker so I could get to the bottom. Good luck...
