first of all i'm a rookie! I got a boat with a 55HP Chrysler i think it a 75 model# 557hg. tryed to start it and the carb was spitting fuel so i got a carb rebuild kit and it fires right up and sounds great! the problem now is after you release the ignition the starter drops to right below the flywheel and keeps spinning. now like i said im a rookie but i don't think that's right? anyway thanks for the time, tell me what you think.

Does the starter stay engaged all the time?Your key switch might be corroded. Spray a LITTLE WD=40 or lite grease under the bendix on the worm gear and in the key switch.J
