I have a cable with a thread and nut down the engine end and the other is still in the control but I am not sure what the connector is between thread and the ball joint on the bottom port cover. Can someone direct me to a web picture or shop component of the setup? The clymers doesn't help me much.

Below are the throttle and gear shift linkages.

You are missing the two quick-connects for the cable ends. The lower one is throttle and is a spring loaded unit about 2-2/12 inches long. Upper one is shift and ids about one inch long.

The throttle one is connected so the spring loaded portion is pulled out about 3/16 to 1/4 inch in neutral. This allows the engine to shift into gear BEFORE the throttle begins to move. They should be available at your local Mercury dealer And I would not be surprised if iboats sell them too.

That's great. Thanks.

My engine is almost complete.
