I was thinking about putting a temp. gauge in my boat. I have a temp. warning buzzer and I would like to replace it with a gauge. I know I would need to change the sending unit. Has any one done this? Any advice? Were would I get parts?

Standard parts. They make the sending unit and it comes as a package with the gauge. It screws right into the top of the head behind the thermostat. If the stainless plug is not there, you can drill and tap another 1/8 NPT. Check here at iboats or at your locql marina opr boat dealer. It is generic, not specific for Force engines.

Here's how I mounted my 1/8 NPT temp gauge sending unit.

NOTE: When I looked at the temp. gauges, I discovered that most of them started out at 100 or 120 degrees. My motor has a 130 degree thermostat. I initially bought and installed one that started at 100 degrees. The needle barely moved. I have since replaced it with one that starts out at 60 degrees and now the needle registers about half way on the gauge which is about 120 - 130 degrees.

Shoot, I just put a tell tail there. Can I put a temp sending unit were the warning buzzer sending unit is?

No, but you can put a brass screw in "T" connector there. One side has the Tell Tale, the other side has the sending unit.

I went to my local marine dealer/parts and they were able to find nothing for the temp sender and gauge. especially a gauge that starts at 60. If anyone could tell me an exact kit that would very appreciated.
