Merry Christmas everybody! I want to thank everyone again for the help given in the past, and everything has worked out good. We installed a 50 hp on the rear of a pontoon. Cables and everything came with engine, but they are about 6 to 8 feet too long. I have a loop in it right now, which allows it to function, but I would be interested in shortening the cables or should I measure and order new ones. I can't afford to pay anymore to the money grabbers, so I will be doing the work myself. Thanks in advance for any information on this matter. Trying to get it fixed before boating season next year.

Looping the cables will work. Not great but will work. Get new as they are impossible to cut,and get a good job.
Measure the loop and buy a pair that much shorter. You need some extra at the motor for turning and flexing.J

Thanks for your help! Have been looking and the price is not as bad as I thought it would be.
