Everyone was so helpful getting me back on the water I have found myself helping my dad with his boat this weekend. He has a 1990 Force 35hp with a Panther Model 55 Tilt/Trim. I have two questions. The motor is sloppy turning left to right. It will not hold a line and flops back and forth. Anybody know of a way to tighten the mechanism, or is there a bearing or other part shot in the stem.
Second question has to do with the motor on the tilt trim. I have power to the electric motor mounted on the unit, but it will not move. The boat has been stored in his yard for a year, so I am hoping it is just stuck. Is there a good way to free it? I can spray electric contact cleaner on it, hit it with a rubber mallet, or pound the heck out of it with a sledge. I hope I get some ideas before I get the sledge
