Hi, its been a season or two since I last visited. Just a few thanks for some past help. You guys on this forum are great. Hope all is well. Decided to do a head gasket on my 91 50hp and found for one I have no thermostat in her and 2 dont know what exactly the torque specs for the head are? if any one has a manual... these numbers would be appreciated. and as far as the thermostat goes ... do I need it? Cumbustion chamber wasn't too bad for "muck-tuck" as some would say. but i think fuel consumption might be a bit high at troll...Motor runs great! Good to be back.

Re: Torque Specs. for 91 50HP Force Head bolts

Cylinder head bolt torque for a 1991 50 hp shows 225 inch pounds on a 5/16 inch bolt. I do not think the missing thermostat will affect fuel consumption as the motor is carb controled without computer programming and automatic chokes. For the thermostat, I would be inclined to put a thermostat in at some convenient time just so I know everything is coming up to operating temperature.
