Check to be sure that the spark plug for that cylinder is good? Swap it with a sparkplug from a known firing cylinder and see if the miss moves to the cylinder that was firing and check to see if the cylinder that wasn't firing is now firing. If it is firing then you have a bad plug.

Or if you have a spare sparkplug try that and see what happens!

After Checking the plugs, look at the wiring diagram on the back of the block--up top. See which wires on the terminal board below the CD boxes service the #2 cylinder. Check to see that none are broken, loose, or disconnected.

Then, remove the mounting plate and look on the back to see the quick-connects from the CD boxes to the coils. Switch #2 coil with another. If the other one still fires and #2 does not, then the coil is bad. If the other one does not fire and #2 does fire, then the CD box is bad.

Now, some engines are set up so one box services #1 and #2 cylinders and the second box services #3. Others are set up the other way. The net result is that 1/2 of one box is NOT used and should still function. So by studing the wiring diagram and the wires themselves, you should be able to determine the unused half. If the CD box is indeed bad, wire the engine so that the unused half of the CD box now services #2 and the bad half of the CD box is now the unused one--save yourself a bit of cash.
