I'm going to order a repair manual for my motor, but in the meantime, could someone scan me a wiring diagram for my 1985 Force 85? I have a bad output on the CDI and I need to rewire the trigger to make use of the unused output on the other CDI. Thanks!

Sorry, I would if I could, but scanner is in the trash can.

You will need to move three wires.
1- the easy one- Disconnect the bad output (red or orange) and connect to the other one.

2- Follow the wires from the cd, back to the terminal strip, to find out which 2 wires from the trigger are being used.

The green or green/white wire from the trigger, needs to be connected to the unused green or green/white cd input wire.

The red or orange wire from the trigger, needs to be connected to the unused red or orange cd input wire.

Clear as mud.

OK, Roscoe, I'm trying to look at the diagram and figure out how to rewire it like you say. But the trigger wires don't go back to the terminal strip. So it looks like I'll have to cut and splice the wires near the plugs or something.

I'm just not sure how to tell which trigger is which. Would someone be so kind as to tell me exactly how to rewire it using the diagram? I'd appreciate it!

Anyone?

Here's a diagram I scanned from a Clymers book at the library today.

Seems I have to switch one of the green, orange, red, white/green, orange, or green wires at the terminal block after the trigger housing. I don't know which is which. Should there be continuity from the orange coil output and one of the trigger wires? I could trace it back that way.

What about the blue wire from the stator? It doesn't look to be connected. Should it be?

Looks to me like it should go:

CD - Trigger:
Red - Orange
White/Gr - Green
and
CD - Stator:
Blue - Yellow

Then:
plug the coil White to CD Orange.
Sound right?

Here is another thread with some info on swapping to the unused part of the cd unit.
