US MARINE FORCE motor, 35 HP Model M357F7B, Seriel# 1473. Year- no idea. Hood release seems to be broken or I can't find it. Looking out stern of boat there is a little nub just bekow the rim of the hood on the left. Suspected broken latch?? Ideas on how to get it open with broken latch?? Possible ideas for replacement of latch?

Thanks for your help bob. unfortunately it is too short to get anything to grasp. Can you tell me if the latch mechanism is in the back (prop side) of the lid?? or in the front (side of motor at stern)??

Re: FORCE motor hood release problem

First off, your motor is a 1987 model.

Cover latch is dead center in the front. Part #24 in this picture.
You are gonna have to copy and paste the website address.

mercruiserparts.com/Show_Pictures3.asp?dnbr=FOB4098&ivar=images/FORCE/FOB4098/2.png&inbr=1230&bnbr=1&bdesc=ENGINE+COVER+AND+SUPPORT+PLATE
