Setting the timing on a 1996 50 force / Mercury

Can someone explain in detail where to adjust the timing I understand also a regular timing light that I use on my vehicles wont fly is that right?

It is very difficult to set the timing on a outboard.Unless someone has changed it,you shouldn't mess with it.What's the motor doing that you suspect the timing is out?

hey there i also have a older 86 force 50hp that has the same starting problem. the coils an wires have been replaced an there is still no fire to the motor any suggestions for that?

Timing is set using a procedure called link & sync. You need a manual to do it properly. Your automotive timing light will work just fine.
