chrysler 12.9hp oil/petrol mixture

Bought this engine second hand and know nothing about it. Any information provided would be appreciated but definately need to know the oil/petrol ratio for it so we can test it.<br /><br />from the little metal plate inside the engine:<br />BHP @ 5000 RPM<br />4500 to 5500 RPM<br />Model 123HB<br />Serial 11132<br />Hartford Wisconsin U.S.A.<br /><br />moulded into the casing above the cover catch: 286038

It looks like your motor is from 1963. My manual only goes back as far as 1966. The motors from 1966 till present use 50 to 1. Sorry I cant give you a better answer. Hope someone chimes in that might have experience with that old of a motor.

eurolarva <br />I think that model # refers to an early '70s motor..maybe 1972. <br />Your motor DigitalReaper calls for 50:1 on the fuel mixture...Champion L4J gapped at .030...points set at .020...and run it hard and decarb every year...just a Thought :p

Sorry about the wrong info. Misread the last two digets and crossed it to a 12HP. I have tried finding L4J spark plugs here in Minnesota with no luck. I was told at NAPA they were discontinued and the cross reference plug is a L82C plug for WOT and a L86C for trolling. I have been using the L82C now for a full year and have had no trouble with them.
